About LCA

We have been educating children from London and the surrounding rural areas for 40 years. Our school is affiliated with the Ontario Alliance of Christian Schools a Christian School Organization comprised of over 80 Christian schools across Ontario.

All of the teachers at LCA are Ontario certified, Christian teachers. Our class sizes are small, allowing our teachers to provide greater personal attention for all students. The curriculum taught at LCA meets or surpasses the standards equivalent to the guidelines set forth by the Ontario Ministry of Education while maintaining its strong Christian perspective. Our students consistently score in the top 25th percentile of elementary schools across Canada.  We are currently using the MAPS standardized testing program.

Special Education programs are available for students with special needs. Opportunities are available for students to participate in music, athletics, drama, student leadership and community service projects.

History of the Academy

In September 1974, London Christian Academy opened its doors under the name The Christian Academy of Western Ontario as a fully recognized private Christian school with 32 students from grades one through six.

A group of Christian businessmen in London, Ontario, had determined to offer an educational alternative to the secular and increasingly humanistic publicly funded school system. They prayerfully committed themselves to creating an interdenominational evangelical Christian school, providing excellent academic teaching.

During the first twelve years of its existence, LCA had to relocate a total of six times. Three of those years were in Riverview Public School, now the site of the Children’s Museum.

It was with great excitement that in 1986 LCA was able to lease land from West Park Baptist Church and build a school on Gainsborough Road near Hyde Park Road. This permanent location offered the stability the school needed to develop its academic and sports programs more effectively.

In the Autumn of 2003, LCA purchased a school building from the London District Catholic School Board. We moved into this new location at 85 Charles Street, London in January 2004. The school officially changed its name to London Christian Academy in January 2005. Today the Academy is a thriving Christian elementary school with classes in all grades from Junior Kindergarten to Grade Eight.
