Meet the Teacher

I grew up in London, Ontario. Ever since I was a young boy, I knew I wanted to become a teacher. In pursuit of this dream, I attended Wilfrid Laurier University and Nipissing University in Brantford, Ontario, where I earned an Honours B.A. and a B.Ed., respectively. After graduating in 2015, I travelled to South Korea for the summer as an English Language Teacher. Upon my return to Canada, I attended Wilfrid Laurier University to pursue a M.A. in Religion and Culture. After graduating with a M.A. in 2016, I travelled to Guatemala with a missionary organization as an English Language Teacher. In 2016, I began pursuing a Ph.D. in Religion and Culture while also teaching undergraduate students at Wilfrid Laurier University. At the same time as I was working on my Ph.D, I had taught at various independent schools in London as an occasional teacher in short- and long-term capacities.

In April 2020, I felt God's prompting to step away from the Ph.D. and step into a teaching role at London Christian Academy. With this opportunity, I'm able to use my passion for Christ and the gifts that God has given me to teach and mentor children. I believe that a Christian education (and subsequently a Christian worldview) is possible, necessary, desirable, and should be of critical importance to professing believers and their children.

In my spare time, I enjoy hanging out with family and friends, playing volleyball and badminton, being physically active, reading, and playing piano. I currently live in St. Thomas with my wife, Emily, and am a regular attendee of Eastwood Fellowship Baptist Church.

What did I do during the summer?

This past summer Emily and I went to Volleyball Nations League in Ottawa, spent some time at a cottage in Muskoka with my family, travelled to Portugal, and hung out close to home. Here are a few pictures!

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:1-2

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. Psalm 19:1-4

And you shall make holy garments for Aaron, your brother, for glory and for beauty. You shall speak to all the skillful, whom I have filled with a spirit of skill. Exodus 28:2-3

He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose. Jim Elliot

The Kingdom of God is on public display. This should put an end to whatever privatizing inclinations are left in us. Kingdom commitment settles not only questions of personal devotions, church attendance and favourite hymns, but also questions of lifestyle, educational choices, career decisions, organizations we join and causes we support... it is a total agenda... nothing matters but the Kingdom, but because of the Kingdom, everything matters.
